The Terri Green Project & Frank Blythe - A Better Love

Independent soul powerhouse Terri Green, formerly known in the dance world as Terri B!, the voice behind 3 Billboard #1 dance records, and then another 11 #1 independent soul hits has been unstoppable.  In 2022 she received the Independent Soul Grammy  for Best Female Vocalist,  and now returns with her latest single, Better Love,  featuring UK remixer Frank Blythe and her longtime collaborator, producer/saxophonist Toddi Reed and the single exemplifies the evolution of Terri Green and the evolution of her formation, The Terri Green Project, with a  career that has consistently delivered innovation, energy, and heartfelt music.

As a solo artist, Terri released the UK Soul Top Ten hit Caught Up, produced the #1 hit collaboration with Shaila Prospere, Gonna Get Over You, and the southern soul anthem Two Wrongs Don’t Make It Right, which soared to more than 100k views in the first few months. Her background in house and dance music has infused The Terri Green Project’s sound with vibrant energy that seamlessly merges with southern soul, jazz, and contemporary R&B influences. We all fell in love with her project with Maurizio Metal and Tom Hansen of Norway, Unexpected Love, a smooth jazz network top 100 for several weeks, and another side of the unique soul vocalist and songwriter.

The Terri Green Project has achieved critical acclaim and commercial success, including reaching #27 on the US Billboard Adult Contemporary Airplay chart with Grammy winner Randy Hall (Turnt Up Tonight), and delivering top 15 Independent southern soul hits like Two Wrongs Don’t Make It Right, working alongside the Urban Influencer team, CEO, Marvyn A Mack.  The diverse and eclectic  catalog of hits showcases a unique ability to fuse soul, jazz, house, and dance, appealing to global audiences while staying true to their soulsoul roots.

Back to the music, the story of Better Love reflects the constant evolution of relationships, capturing the emotional roller coaster of navigating personal life experiences—the joys, the challenges, and the perseverance that come with love and growth. At Terri’s urging, she and Toddi traveled by several trains to Newcastle or rather, Middlesbrough,  to collaborate with Frank Blythe.  In Frank’s apartment, Terri slumped in a corner with a laptop, Toddi with his saxophone in the corner, and Frank at his keyboard and computer began sketching the tune. Terri immediately connected with the lyrics, singing Better Love, a song that resonates with the complexities of modern love and personal growth.  The song then sat on the shelf for about three years, but on a trip to Norway, Terri phoned Frank about the version and wanted to hear it again and she knew, as soon as she heard it, its time to bring this out.

Frank Blythe, known for his work with Sybil, Joyce Sims, Kenny Thomas, and other UK dance and soul icons, brings his signature touch to the track. The final mix was handled by Ethan Mentzer, guitarist and songwriter from the hit band The Click Five, who took time away from the band’s sold-out reunion tour, most recently invited to perform with the Jonas Brothers, was able to  find time to contribute his expertise to the single, adding a polished, dynamic edge. Notable collaborators also include bassist Thomas Stiegerm who has played on nearly all of her tunes, has grown to be one of the most sought after bassist in Europe having worked with Jazz greats like Gregory Porter, Wolfgang Haffner, and Randy Brecker, further enhancing the depth of the production.

The Terri Green Project has consistently wowed live audiences. They shared the stage with Sister Sledge, Glenn Jones, and Leela James at the recent Baltic Soul Orchestra event, delivering performances that left crowds buzzing. Terri’s own Diamond Nights shows continue to sell out, delighting fans with her mix of classic and contemporary soul.

Throughout her career, Terri Green has demonstrated versatility and artistic vision. From her early success in dance music as Terri B! to her solo UK Soul hits and southern soul explorations, hits such as Caught Up, Gonna Get Over You, Two Wrongs Don’t Make It Right, Turnt Up Tonight, and a catalog of 11 #1 independent singles have established her as a trusted, beloved voice in the indie music scene. Her career highlights include the 2022 Independent Soul Grammy for Best Female Vocalist, the Northstar Radio Group President’s Award, and a Grammy consideration with Joel Treece in 2023 for Close the Door. With Better Love, she continues to push boundaries while maintaining the soulful warmth and dynamic timing that have defined her career.
