Inki, known as Ingibjörg Friðriksdóttir to her parents and the postman, creates music for late-night drives and the feeling of going barefoot on the dancefloor. Her tracks are carefully composed, driven by slightly over-caffeinated ideas – think subtly hip hop laced scandi pop or if James Blake and Lykke Li had a drunken heart to heart in an Icelandic mountain cabin. On stage, she brings a warm and light hearted energy, creating a genuine connection with her audience. Offstage, she‘s probably lost in 48 browser tabs. Following the sold-out concert of her debut album oughts Midsentence, Inki is now finishing up her second album while planning her first international tour. Catch her this November at Iceland Airwaves.
”Islander” is a synth-driven, string-lifted track that blends cinematic emotion with pulsing beats. It carries both the intimacy of growing up on a small island like Iceland and the longing to reach beyond it, capturing the push and pull between isolation and connection. ”Islander” is the first single from Locally Grown, building momentum ahead of Inki’s Iceland Airwaves show this November.
