Arriving in Australia from New Zealand in 1980 i pursued a musical/hobby and entertained around the Newcastle and Sydney area before deciding to go professional. I recorded an LP album titled “Graeme Clarke Sings Your Favourites” a single titled “Tender Trap” / “Darling on Your Way Out Close the Door” then moved further afield touring greater Australia. During my sojourn in Brisbane, “Tender Trap” climbed to No. 9 on the Country charts in Sep. 1985.
In 1998, now based in South Australia, I wrote 7 songs and released a 14 track album titled “Footprints in the Sand at Wallaroo” This CD proved extremely popular locally selling around 1500 copies so I recorded a follow up album of 14 tracks titled “One For the Road” which contained 4 more original songs. I also worked with Vaughn Lofstead at the “Smoke House Studio” in Nashville, teamed up with a local singer, and produced another CD titled “Boots Things and Golden Rings” the title reflecting some of the song titles.
My latest album titled “HELL & BACK” was created and recorded in Adelaide Australia with the exception of two tracks brought forward off my previous album which were recorded and mastered in Nashville TN. The track titled “Country Club” made No.1 on the European Country Music Charts in Jan. 2014, “Just Call Me Lonesome” made No.1 on the International Mainstream Country Music Chart in Mar. 2017 and “Baby Are You Getting Tired of Me” climbed to No.1 in Nov. 2017.“Hell and Back” the album’s title song, also had international success making No.11 on the Country Music Internet Top 30 Indie Chart in April. 2017 receiving over 600 spins a week. In March 2017 I was voted No. 12 on the Top 200 International Artists keeping good company with many world famous artists such as Waylon Jennings, Dwight Yoakum and Willie Nelson.
In January 2021 “I’ve Had a Beautiful Time” was voted Song Of The Month on ARZUK Radio in California and subsequently became Song Of The Year on that Radio Station. My latest achievement was, in 2022 at the FPCM Red Carpet Awards held in The Netherlands. I was awarded the “Golden Day Award” for my updated version of the old classic “Mona Lisa”
During 2023 UK Composer Dave McGerty from the Music Farm contacted me and asked if I would be interested in recording one of his songs. I jumped at this opportunity and after a corroborative effort between two countries, opposite time zones and various other complications “How Long Before the Rain Sets In” was born and released in August 2024.
In November 2024 I remastered a song that I had recorded some 20 years prior but had not released. The lyrics of this song are extremely meaningful and hit the hearts of many long married couples. The title of the song is “Always My Best Friend’
