JNDJ are an Alternative Rock duo and couple from the United States, consisting of Julissa (Veloz) Girardi and Jesse Girardi. JNDJ debuted “In My Own Way” in May of 2023, following it with “Dig Down Deep,” two alt-rock tracks with hints of pop synths, awash in clean percussion and Jesse’s signature heavy guitar. Now, in March of 2025, the band returns with “Mirrors,” a powerful fusion of heavy rock energy and the passionate spirit of Latin pop, creating a sound that is both anthemic and emotionally raw. Both Julissa and Jesse started out in search of stardom and individually found success, with Jesse’s band, Awaking the Fallen, signing a deal with Dirtbag Music Group/Dirtbag Clothing in San Diego, and reaping the rewards of young rockstars on the rise.
Meanwhile, Julissa, a classically trained opera singer, made it as a finalist on American Idol, season 8, and later signed with an indie dance music label, achieving two top 10 Billboard dance hits with national and international touring. But in time, all the highs of the rock-n-roll life eventually crumbled into a heavy dose of disillusionment that nothing could satisfy, and both Julissa and Jesse experienced profoundly dark, spiritually oppressive, and terrifyingly real situations, which lead the couple to returning to the East Coast, and eventually, to finding faith.
Through their journey, JNDJ have discovered that peace isn’t possible chasing fleeting fame and material success, but in a deep and abiding relationship with God. They have embraced Jesus as the foundation for their lives and their music, creating art that meets listeners wherever they are.
“Mirrors,” Julissa explains, is about how God’s love is intentional and can be seen and felt in every aspect of your life. “God’s love is reflected by the people in your life and in things that are not coincidental—the perfect thing said at a time of crisis, a person who comes seemingly out of nowhere and helps you along, the way the sky looks more beautiful than most days when you are feeling cloudy. All of these things are glimpses into the everlasting love that God has for us.”
