Allan Caswell and Lindsay Waddington have been writing songs together since their first Lynchburg album in 2021. This lead to 3 Lynchburg albums, songs for each other’s solo projects and songs for a number of other artists. Among the dozens of great songs in their catalogue, their new one, 12 Good Men is close to their very best."Waddo came up with the title idea and I loved it. I wrote the lyric without a tune (which is rare for me) and sent it to Waddo. He knew where I was going with the story and gave me the perfect tune to go with it. The idea was to write a bluegrass song for our upcoming bluegrass album and there will be a bluegrass version later but when we got together on it, we turned it into a classic gunfighter ballad … we both loved El Paso, Big Iron, Ringo and 7 Spanish Angels … in 5 years of exploring all the different styles of classic country music, we didn’t have a gunfighter ballad … 12 Good Men was the song we needed to write." Waddo’s production style on 12 Good Men is almost cinematic, blending an eclectic collection of instruments and great playing into a soundscape that tells the story in the same way the lyrics do. Cas’s powerful vocals and story telling skills help turn 12 Good Men into almost a 3-minute Western movie.
It would fit nicely into the soundtrack of a Yellowstone or a Clint Eastwood movie.
