Glory’s Gate is a Christian Rock band from Washington, Illinois founded in 2017 and led by father-son duo J.T. Marshall and Jon Anthony. Known for their rich mix of heavy guitars, soaring synthesizers, and rock-fueled vocals with AOR influences, the band features Jon Anthony (synthesizer/guitar/vocals), J.T. Marshall (songwriting/lead vocals), Brian Firmand (lead guitar), Casey Young (drums/vocals), Robyn Davis (guitar/bass/vocals), and Todd Akers Jr. (bass). Together, they create music centered on faith, hope, and resilience; encouraging listeners, especially young people, facing challenges like depression. Their debut album, ”Stay Strong” (2018), gained them recognition and led to performances at notable events like the Gospel Spin Awards in Atlanta and Unite Fest in Peoria, Illinois. In 2023, they released their second album, ”Reign,” available on over 140 platforms.
Now, Glory’s Gate present their Southern Rock Ballad, “How to Do I Love You,” which was inspired by the film ”I Can Only Imagine” by MercyMe. After seeing this movie and reflecting on the foundation of that story, JT began to look back on his own life and discovered he was as broken as anyone could be. The hurt he never noticed, and the patience of his loved ones brought about the words of this song. Although this song didn’t take a lifetime to write like in the movie, it was written on the reflection of a lifetime.
