1000 Ways had its origins in a recording session between songwriting team Danny Ferdinandus and Dick Hoogerwaard. They sent a demo to UK based producer & guitarist Tom E Morrison who’d worked on a previous single of theirs (Feel Your Love) to get his opinion. Tom was very struck by the raw material and was eager to be involved in the production & development of the song.
Tom laid down and arranged the new recording with his guitar, adding bass and keyboards then invited colleagues Dave Hartley (drums) and Robin Ward (backing vocals) to augment the sound with their talents. Tom‘s partner Rachel Morrison, singer and composer in the group Bliss (strongly followed in Brazil, Italy and Germany) helped to refine the song’s lyrics. Finally Danny’s vocals were added - the recording was a significant challenge for him, having lost confidence in his singing owing to serious personal trauma.
The intention was for him to lay down the track remotely in Holland; this proved impractical so last September Danny travelled to Tom’s studio in the Yorkshire countryside where with, Tom’s personal and professional assistance, Danny was able finally to deliver this a moving vocal performance, both the finishing touch and emotional force behind 1000 Ways.
