Rum and cola on the beach, holiday sunsets, and the lighthearted fun of summer are all distilled in Jamaican Vacation; the second catchy track from uncle-niece duo Behind the Sea.
With a beat that you can’t help but groove to, songwriter Phil Ayton grins as he describes the sense of enjoyment that came out of this latest collaboration. “There was such a great atmosphere in the studio when we recorded this. Madi really blossomed, she sang so naturally, it just flowed,” says Phil. “You can’t help but catch the beat!” Following the widespread radio play and private playlist streams from their first single, Phil says he’s excited to see where Jamaican Vacation travels to. “It’s awesome that people wanted Kiss Kiss Moi on their playlist, and I hope that Jamaican Vacation brings the same sense of happiness and carefree joy to everyone.” A song about being happy, drinking in the moment and enjoying life, Jamaican Vacation could fit easily into a cruise package, a weekend trip away or a local summer party with the good vibes of a cocktail and a new bikini. Phil says he’s never been to Jamaica in person, but has visited mentally on many occasions. “I’m a lyricist first and foremost. This song was floating around on cassette tape and I found it after years… the song just popped!” Paired with Madi’s storytelling flair, the creative duo have once again created a soundtrack for the party generation. As someone who creates visual stories through film, Madi is no stranger to audio landscapes. Her talent for phrasing lyrics seems to come as second nature, using her voice instead of cinematics to set the scene.
For the party people, the holidayers and the good timers, Jamaican Vacation is a feel good number that evokes everything Phil and Madi imagine a Caribbean escape to be.
