New Moon is the musical vehicle for Clive Culbertson to record new versions of some of his favourite 60s and 70s songs.
Clive is an established singer-songwriter whose career has taken his music across the world, with chart success including Top 10 hits in Japan in 1979 and 1981, and Top 40 success in Germany in 1983 and 1984. Alongside his solo work, Clive continues to explore his deep love of classic songwriting through his band New Moon. New Moon is a long-standing project rooted in Clive’s passion for the great songs of the 1960s and the timeless storytelling of country music. With a sound built around warm acoustic textures, rich musicianship and heartfelt vocals, the band brings a fresh perspective to songs that have stood the test of time. This new release sees New Moon reimagine the iconic California Dreamin’, originally a multi-million selling hit for The Mamas & the Papas in 1967. A song that has resonated across generations, it remains one of the defining recordings of its era. Clive’s version stays true to the emotional core of the original while introducing a new sonic landscape blending classic influences with a more contemporary feel. Featuring beautifully crafted arrangements and standout performances from top-class musicians, this interpretation breathes new life into a much-loved classic. California Dreamin’ is the first in a series of upcoming New Moon releases, as Clive continues to revisit and reinterpret some of his favourite songs, bringing them to a new audience while honouring their original spirit.
