The Submerged is a Japanese alternative rock band known for narrative-driven lyrics andemotional band sound. The band is primarily active through live performances in VRChat, using virtual venues as their main stage. Alongside regular live shows, The Submerged organizes a recurring VRChat live event series titled “Halley’s Comet Night,” which has been held three times to date. They have also released a free compilation album featuring seven VRChat-based bands, aiming to make the virtual music scene more visible to audiences worldwide. Through music, live performances, and community-driven projects, The Submerged explores new forms of rock expression across physical and virtual spaces. They now present two songs from their EP, Fabrica, which was released on 24 February 2026. “Green River” is inspired by a longing for early-2000s science-fiction films, with its title referencing the iconic green digital rain from The Matrix. The song reflects on a future once imagined but never realized, while music continues to flow across the world, quietly connecting people. Musically, the track is deeply influenced by Britpop, especially the lasting emotional impact of hearing Oasis’s “Wonderwall” for the first time, shaping the song’s melodic and reflective atmosphere. “Fabrica” tells the story of a small, everyday adventure that unfolds over the course of a single day. The lyrics follow a simple scene—going out, returning home, falling asleep, with an anatomy book titled Fabrica resting by the bedside. Musically, the song contrasts this quiet imagery with slow-tempo, fuzz-drenched guitars and a raw, heavy feel, drawing strong influence from 1990s alternative rock such as Dinosaur Jr. While searching for an album title track, the chorus melody came to mind upon waking, and the song was completed in just 30 minutes.
