TAKE THE 55 - Long Black Veil

On February 12, 2026, the US/Swiss formation TAKE THE 55 released their debut album, Rhythm Secrets. The album captures the raw energy and spontaneity of the band, featuring thirteen Southern blues, swamp and country songs recorded in front of a live, captivated audience. Long Black Veil is their chosen single of the album. TAKE THE 55 embodies the "survival mentality" of the rural American South along Highway 55 - a journey stretching from St. Louis through Memphis and Clarksdale down to the swamps of Louisiana. Their sound is deeply rooted in Southern blues, shaped by years of immersion in the musical communities of New Orleans and Lafayette in Louisiana, as well as Austin, Texas. The band performs music that honors the traditions that are deeply rooted to the regions, while also drawing from their own experiences to create a sound that is entirely their own.

The repertoire is shared equally among three veteran musical leaders: Andy Boller (vocals/piano): Hailing from Ohio (USA), Boller has toured with the legendary Bo Diddley and served as an opening act for B.B. King and Mose Allison. Felix Hohl (vocals/guitar): Formerly the guitarist for Bo Katzman and Heinz Flückiger, Hohl brings a wealth of stage experience and stylistic depth. Lo Trottmann (vocals/pedal steel guitar): In 1992, Trottmann shared the stage with icons like Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristoeerson. The rhythmic foundation is anchored by Philipp Hohl (drums) and Willie Surbeck (bass), whose laid-back grooves create the essential space for the band’s characteristic live sound. With Rhythm Secrets, TAKE THE 55 offers a collection of musical moments born from the synergy between performers and listeners. While the thirteen tracks were meticulously assembled and remixed in the studio by Felix Hohl, the result remains authentic and raw music that lives in the "now."
