Anastasia Lee feat. Celesta da Vinci - Swan Song

'Swan Song’ is a lyrical arrangement of Tchaikovsky’s ‘Swan Lake’ theme from the ballet of the same name.  Since roughly 2019, American contralto Anastasia Lee has been working on putting this duet together. She is a big believer in bringing old standards to present day audiences and reinterpreting them as a whole. She starting by working with Ukrainian composer Volodymyr Kotliarov on creating an orchestral arrangement suitable for vocals. Anastasia then spent the next two years working on the lyrics (in Italian) in her spare time between performances, painting, and her substitute teaching work. Using translation books from the library and numerous online sources as well as inspiration from some of her favorite classical crossover singers such as Andrea Bocelli, Sarah Brightman, and Luciano Pavarotti, she wrote Italian lyrics in the format for a duet. For the instrumentals she collaborated with the 35 piece Grammy award winning Czech National Symphony Orchestra. As her duet partner she selected her friend, Dutch soprano Celesta da Vinci, who had previously been in the US with Anastasia for recordings and a performance at an Italian festival.

Anastasia and Celesta have both enjoyed the music from Swan Lake, as well as the ballet and even the Barbie movie of the same name since they were children. In the song, single artwork, and music video, Anastasia portrays the white swan and Celesta portrays the black swan. Anastasia Lee is best known for having performed with the world renowned singer Josh Groban as a teenager, being an unsigned billboard charting artist, winning her age division of Music For Kids (tv talent show held in Europe) and having over a whopping 10 million views on YouTube.Celesta da Vinci is best known for performing for the former Queen of the Netherlands, her standing ovation performance on German tv talent show Das Supertalent, reaching the semi-finals of the Dutch tv talent show We Want More, and performing with Dutch superstar soprano Amira Willighagen. Swan Song has been described as a sweeping, romantic, dramatic duet that’s sure to become a classical crossover standard.
