Quantiqua - Brainwashés

QUANTIQUA was born in 2020, in the midst of the COVID crisis, a pivotal time for all humanity, marked by uncertainty and upheavals of all kinds. At the beginning of the year, Éric Isabelle was involved in the creation of a musical project composed of songs that had been cultivated for many years. However, the events that were unfolding before his eyes, whether they were political, sanitary or even spiritual, deeply upset him, to such an extent that his project quickly took an unexpected direction.

During this period, his friend and principal collaborator, Arnold Westram, began to get involved in the project, bringing his ideas and musical compositions. The vagaries of life led to their cohabitation. This allowed them to devote themselves almost entirely to the album they both cherished. Later, Charles, a talented guitarist and musician, joined them, bringing to the sound of Quantiqua a personal and original touch inspired by «blues». QUANTIQUA was born from a musical sharing between three friends and sustained discussions about the state of the postmodern world in which we all live.

Bathed in a philosophical and poetic atmosphere, QUANTIQUA is intended as an echo of the absurdities and inconsistencies of our civilization. A creative space that names and denounces the evils of our time. Deeply upset by the events unfolding before their eyes, the trio will choose to use its voice, talent and creativity to give life to a musical universe that reflects its concerns, inviting the collective masses to engage through transparency and lucidity of the world in which they evolve. A word from the artist, Eric Isabelle: "QUANTIQUA is the marriage of extremes, the fusion of opposites, the atomization of the microcosm and macrocosm.

Yin and yang put to the test, but reconciled in a unity both cosmic and earthly. QUANTIQUA ignores the limits, transcends them and goes beyond them. It is Love and Hate amalgamated into a single burst of energy. The infinitesimal prism of all colors, even those that do not exist. Arrogance and humility, violence and gentleness, candor and smallness before the things of the world that look at him and look at themselves in them. An inverted mirror yet identical and always the same. A kind of quantum neither religious, nor atheist, nor spiritual; a quantum, period. A Word without word, form or body; a Spirit without name, but yet bearing all names. A dream without dream, a forest without trees, a love without love.

The incandescence of sound objects in pure state, but yet already dead, and dying a little more every day. QUANTIQUA is war and peace in one movement, one act, neither at the same time. It is hope in despair, despair in hope. QUANTIQUA abolishes words, completes the unfinished, makes possible the impossible and the possible impossible. QUANTIQUA is everything and nothing. Neither the medal nor the reverse of the medal, but the absence and presence of things all at once. Alpha and Omega, lion and lamb together. The Child, the Wheel and the Game. The Emperor, the arena and the Circus. Now, in the face of this Circus, no obstacle can extinguish the ardor of Quantiqua’s creativity, as long as the objective remains clear and transparent, promising a difficult but significant change for all. In this quest, every idea becomes a spark, illuminating the path to a transformed and radiant future."

«Brainwashés» is the first musical work created in this context. This song illustrates how the masses are influenced, from all sides, but especially by the media. It sheds light on how individuals are affected by a system based on social engineering, inspired by Edward Bernays, who also influenced Joseph Goebbels, the Nazi minister of propaganda during World War II. The work, as well as the entire album, criticizes this system; it addresses not only the preponderant role of mass media in the «formation of minds», but also the influence of political, financial and religious institutions.

The song is intended as a call for awareness of these manipulations, prompting listeners to reflect on their own relationship with information and society. In short, it represents a powerful denunciation of the control mechanisms that shape our perceptions and behaviors on a daily basis. In this sense, it can contribute to the ability to question the world, sometimes radically, while promoting the possibility of a better world. It makes it possible to enrich the dialogues among humans and thus contribute to the awakening of consciences. In a world, alas, torn and at least conflictual.

And to paraphrase Léo Ferré: «Before making the Revolution in the street, you have to make it in your head»." - Éric explains.
