Australian alt-country singer-songwriter Michelle Murrell is set to release her latest single, "Numbers
Game", a reflective track that delves into society’s obsession with measurements, success, and selfworth.
The song presents a raw and honest take on life’s numerical
pressures—weight, money, age, social media validation—asking the listener to reconsider whether
winning the "game of numbers" truly matters in the end.
Written by Michelle and James Murrell, the song was inspired by a conversation with Michelle’s
sister, who questioned her obsession with the number on the scale.
She suggested that exercising
and eating well is a much healthier way to live rather than focusing on a number. In recent times, the
song’s message has become even more personal, as James and Michelle’s son was diagnosed with
Type 1 Diabetes—where numbers play a crucial role in daily management.
"Numbers Game" will debut on radio on February 26th, followed by its official release on streaming
platforms on February 28th.
